Setting Foot in the Dominican Republic

More Than A Game is back at it again, this time returning to the Dominican Republic!  After 7 hours of plane travel, we landed ready to begin our second service trip of the year.  Immediately stepping off the plane, we were welcomed by the warm, humid weather and smiling faces of the Dominicans.  After a short bus ride through the broken streets, we began to see the Major League Baseball complexes known for developing some of Latin America’s best baseball players.  First, we passed by the San Francisco Giants beautiful complex, followed by those of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs.  Once we arrived at the Pittsburg Pirates complex, we were in awe of the serene surroundings and buildings.  This flawless facility was filled with Dominican Summer League trophies, autographed baseballs and pictures of current Pittsburgh Pirates who had been through the academy.  Besides from this state of the art building, we also were amazed by the countless pristine baseball fields, batting cages and weight room on the property.  Being able to stay at such a high class facility is only going to help our mission of serving the people of the Dominican Republic through the game of baseball!!!
