Booker T. Anderson Field Renovations Underway! (+VIDEO)
In an effort to bring the city of Richmond's rich baseball tradition back into the community, the city has granted use of Booker T. Anderson Park to the Game Changers organization. In return, the city has requested that Game Changers engage the community to assist in rebuilding 3 baseball fields at the park.
More Than A Game, along with partners Turface Athletics, Acosta Trucking, Penske/Concord Tow World, and City of Richmond donated time, material, and services to help Game Changers meet this challenge. On Saturday, February 10th, more than 30 volunteers from More Than A Game, Game Changes, and the community met at Field #2 and spread 20 yards of Candlestick Mix infield dirt, which was donated and delivered by Acosta Trucking, constructed new batter's boxes with bricks and clay donated by Turface Athletics and delivered by Concord Tow World, and installed base pegs for both 60' and 70' baseball diamonds.
The effort will continue over the next 2 weekends and will include building new mounds at all three fields, building new batters boxes at Field 3, and repairing batters boxes at Field 1. Over $7500 worth of material and services were donated to the cause.
More Than A Game would like to thank it's awesome sponsors for their contributions and also thank the City of Richmond for giving Game Changers an opportunity to use baseball as a tool to bring the community together.
