More Than A Game is releasing a feature film inspired by a recent project in Puerto Rico. In October 2018, MTAG traveled to the city of Coamo in southern Puerto Rico to empower a baseball community that suffered from Hurricane Maria the previous year.
The group of MTAG volunteers included current minor league players Jared Oliva (Pirates), Rio Gomez (Red Sox), Ryan Fitzgerald (Red Sox), and Nick Gruener (Orioles). Major Leaguers and Puerto Rico natives Jesmuel Valentin, most recently with the Philadelphia Phillies, and Victor Caratini of the Chicago Cubs were also involved. Jerry Santiago and Jose Martell, two youth baseball leaders in the Coamo community, served as local leaders of the project.
MTAG has made plans to share this incredible story during Spring Training in Florida and Arizona, with intention of creating awareness about MTAG. Other Premier locations have been set in Chicago, San Francisco and Atlanta.
“This project was a major collaboration of talent and energy,” says MTAG Founder and CEO Marshall Murray, “Sharing this film inspired by our project excites us and make us proud of the work we do.”
More Than A Game enlists athletes to unite, educate and empower committees. MTAG has locations in California and Georgia, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Panama, utilizing Outreach, Programs Mentoring and Exchange as their main areas of service.
